Raul Diaz Jr., 55, of Van Nuys who loved riding his Harley Davidson, was killed in an accident last week near the Red Rover Mine on Sierra Highway in Acton, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A Sherman Oaks Patch reader, who asked to remain anonymous, wrote Patch: "Raul was always safe and loved to be part of the cycling community in Van Nuys, and he deserves a local tribute."

According to police, Diaz was killed when his 2002 Harley Davidson Road Glide “failed to follow the curve of the roadway and continued straight" and then "his front tire went up and over a raised concrete curb and down a descending landscape slope."
