Arrest Made in Connection With 2010 Homicide at McDonald's Parking Lot

Karen Gary Katabyan was arrested Thursday afternoon in Reseda and booked on suspicion of murder.

Detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department's North Hollywood Division have arrested a 27-year-old Reseda man in connection with a shooting that left one man dead and another seriously wounded in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant in Valley Glen in 2010, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

The man arrested and booked on suspicion of murder was Karen Gary Katabyan, who police believe was present during the Dec. 6, 2010 shooting that left one man dead and another wounded. His cousin, 27-year-old Andranik Katabyan, is the primary suspect in the homicide and remains at large.

Police believe the Katabyan cousins met up with the victims, 27-year-old Davit Khachikyan and 24-year-old Ashak Tatoyan, at a McDonald’s at 12919 Victory Blvd. in Valley Glen and shot both men multiple times with a handgun. Khachikyan died from the shots, and Tatoyan was wounded and hospitalized after being hit in the arms and legs. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. after the McDonald's was closed, and police believe a verbal dispute led to the shooting.
