Alleged Pimp Who Escaped Sting in Van Nuys Arrested in Las Vegas, Police Say

An alleged pimp who escaped a prostitution sting by grappling for a gun with a Los Angeles police officer has been arrested in Las Vegas, FBI officials said Thursday.

Dontai Everidge, 27, was taken into custody in Nevada by a multi-office fugitive task force.

Earlier this year, police working a prostitution sting operation in Van Nuys tried to arrest the Lancaster man, but Everidge got away, according to the FBI.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office charged Everidge with two counts of assault on a police officer with a deadly weapon; one count of robbery and a count of felony resisting arrest.

He remains in Nevada, pending extradition.

Everidge already was on probation for assault with a firearm and will not be allowed bail, FBI officials  said.

Everidge will be extradited to Los Angeles by LAPD task force detectives, authorities said.
