The collision occurs about 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Vineland Avenue in North Hollywood.

Four people, including two firefighters, were injured this morning when an ambulance responding to a call for assistance crashed into a car in North Hollywood.

The collision occurred about 9:20 a.m. at the intersection of Vanowen Street and Vineland Avenue, fire department spokesman Cecil Manresa said.

"Two firefighters suffered minor injuries and two civilians in the car were also injured," Manresa said. "All four people were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries."

There was no word on the condition of the two people in the car who were hurt, according to Manresa.

"The paramedics were responding to a call for assistance with lights and siren when the crash occurred," Manresa said.

The collision was being investigated by the Valley Traffic Division of the Los Angeles police, he said.

"The accident was caused by the motorist, who failed to obey the law involving emergency vehicles using lights and sirens," Los Angeles police Sgt. Matthew Bielski of the Valley Traffic Division said.

"Luckily, for everyone, the injuries were all relatively minor," Bielski said.
