Chabad House Entitlements Voided by City

The nearly complete 12,000-square-foot synagogue is in danger of being severely downsized.

The city of Los Angeles, in compliance with court orders, will void the entitlements of a 12,000-square-foot synagogue in a Sherman Oaks residential neighborhood.

Chabad House, which is currently under construction at Chabad of North Hollywood at 13079 Chandler Boulevard, is nearly complete, but the future of the building is in jeopardy after City Councilman Paul Koretz moved that the synagogue's city-issued permits be thrown out.

Koretz's motion is expected to be approved this week, and if the project is to be approved once again, the city might decide that it be significantly downsized.
