Blog: Wet Weather Ahead

A cold winter storm will affect the southland over the next several days, bringing rain to the Studio City area and snow to the local mountains.

Southern California weather has been southern California weather lately.  We've enjoyed sunny skies, daytime highs in the low 70s, the moderate Santa Ana never really materialized, and overall it's just been plain pleasant.

Hope you enjoyed it.

Now we're in for big changes as a cold low pressure system approaches the LA area.

Increasing clouds on Wednesday will signal the approach of the disturbance, with the rain most likely waiting until the sun sets to move in.

Like last week's rain, this system shouldn't bring terribly impressive rainfall amounts. The National Weather Service puts rainfall estimates in the quarter-to-half-inch range.

Unlike last week's rain, this system will be much colder, bringing the snow level down to 3500 feet at times. This will affect travel on the I-5 corridor over the Grapevine, so be prepared for that if you plan to travel the next few days.

Daytime highs will be well below the normal upper 60s we see this time of year. Expect low 60s on Wednesday and upper 50s on Thursday and Friday.

A few more weather disturbances are on the forecast timeline, although details are pretty fuzzy at this point.  The different forecast models have different ideas on how to handle these systems.  Let's just say that we there's a chance we could see more rain over the weekend.
