A View from Left Field- The Best Government Money Can Buy

The Best Government Money Can Buy

Evil lurks among us.  No, it’s not the Federal Government, but a small clique of industrial titans with avarice and malice in their hearts.  They sit at the very top of our financial pyramid and seek to shift the bulk of the nation’s wealth to them.  This, so they can trickle down a tiny part of it back “on” us.  While there are others, a few of the more prominent in this cast of characters are the Koch Brothers and Grover Norquist. They have a major pre-occupation to wipe out most if not all the government programs that improve the lives of middle class Americans.  Axe the minimum wage, destroy Medi-care and Social Security, privatize education and destroy any program that assists less accomplished citizens.  These are just some of goals these conscienceless men pursue against the American people.

It started when they supported Newt Gingrich’s “Contract on America” and continues today as they seek to shrink government and privatize its revenue to build bigger and loftier empires for themselves.

Get to know the Koch Brothers and Grover Norquist.  They dabble in oil, corporate hegemony and gain the best access to our political leaders that money can buy.  Their goals are simple; destroy the middle class by crushing labor unions and making the American worker more docile and subservient to the multi-nationals.

Likely, these sinister guys are not known to you.  They work best in the shadows subverting programs that help the less fortunate.  This triumvirate of self styled patriots has gone a long way toward putting Conservative America on the map.  Their money knows no boundaries when it comes to greasing the pockets of Republicans who put their party second, corporate America first and their country last.

The “goodness” of the Koch Family is unending.  It started when their father, Fred Koch, helped finance the John Birch Society, that super-right group who defamed Americans for sport while finding communists under every bed.  I’m sure their hats are still tipped in Senator Joseph McCarthy’s direction.  The sons, David and Charles Koch, let little grass grow on their father’s grave before they came up with the formula for fashioning modern conservatism.  Their mantra seems to be, I’m in it for me, you be in it for me and we’ll all agree.  They fund every right cause capable of doing wrong.  They are constantly fighting to get you less as they get themselves more.  Remember, if it helps you, it doesn’t help them.

Last but not least is Grover Norquist.  He’s even smart enough to hold the Republican Party hostage by having their congressmen sign a written pledge that if they raise taxes they are targeted for extinction.  Like lemmings, the Republicans follow Grover’s lead to make government smaller so there is less for you and more for him. Mr. Norquist continues to gain greater access to our nation’s gold mine while giving America the shaft.

If nothing else, become an informed electorate.  Government isn’t perfect, but when utilized properly it does much to improve our lives.  Get rid of waste, but don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.  We can all thank the government for providing the infrastructure and safety net that brings a greater quality to our lives.

Know the issues before you vote.  Get to know the bad people like the Koch Brothers and Grover Norquist who negatively influence our political process and why they do it. In the final analysis we can only count on ourselves to save our country, because these robber barons have already gained access to the inner halls of power.
