Yaroslavsky to Visit Wednesday's SOHA Meeting

Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky will be the featured guest at Wednesday's Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association meeting.

Wednesday's Sherman Oaks Homeowners Association meeting will be highlighted by a visit from Los Angeles County 3rd District Supervisor, Zev Yaroslavsky.

Yaroslavsky has served as on the LA County Board of Supervisors since 1994, having been re-elected on four separate occasions, and served as a member of LA City Council from 1975-1994.

Yaroslavsky was expected to run for LA mayor, but announced in on his blog in August that he would not put his name in the hat.

Wednesday, Yaroslavsky will address his decision not to run for office and to retire from public office in December of 2014, when his current term expires.

In addition, Yaroslavsky will discuss the positive aspects of Measure J, which will pop up on the November ballot.

Measure J will seek to extend a one-half cent transportation sales tax that was put in place in 2008 and expires in 2039. If Measure J passes in November, it will extend the tax until 2069.

The tax was put in place to help accelerate traffic relieving highway and transit projects across Los Angeles.

Wednesday's meeting will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the Sherman Oaks Notre Dame High School cafeteria.
