Automated sensors detected the magnitude 1.4 quake two miles west- southwest of the San Fernando City Hall, or two miles east of Granada Hills.
That would put the epicenter at about Balboa Boulevard at Devonshire Street.

The report of the small quake was not immediately verified by human seismologists. Of course, it was a Sunday morning, so not many on the job.
