One of my favorite small businesses in Sherman Oaks is the Bestime Clock shop on Ventura Boulevard just west of Van Nuys Boulevard. The owner Berge Ouzounian is polite, knowledgeable, and his family has been in the business for 111 years on three continents. If you're buying a watch or clock for a present, check with Berge.

I like the Coffee Roaster on Ventura Blvd one block + east of Woodman on the North side of the street. This shop has been here for a couple of decades, but the newest owner, Stacey, is the one that keeps the life of this small business. Not only is there fresh brewed coffee, but the heart and soul is the fresh roasted coffee beans!

Berge is trustworthy and the Roaster serves up some of the best coffee in town. Then, there is the Carnival Restaurant on Woodman and Moorpark - consistently good and popular Middle Eastern Cuisine. For good Mexican food - La Fogata, Van Nuys and Moorpark. Both have been owned and operated by the same people for decades.

Where was this?

I was stopped coming out of the neighborhood by police. They said they were looking for a whiteRead More male, 5'10 with a tan shirt on who they were chasing in a car. He apparently dumped the car near Greenleaf and Davana Terrace and fled in the neighborhood. Not sure what he did or if they caught him.

I have photos of the 4 or 5 armed officers with their dog in tow in my backyard. For some reason IRead More couldn't upload the pix. The streets were blocked off by lapd cars south of Ventura, at Hazeltine and Stansbury avenue. They made us stay inside for At least two hours. We never heard if they caught the tan shirt man or not. We felt well protected however
