Second Rally Planned to Save Point Pizza

The rally will take place this Friday, Oct. 19 outside D'Amore's Pizza, which will be replacing Point Pizza Malibu in January at the Point Dume Village.

Protesters will hold a second rally this week to speak out against the replacement of Point Pizza with D'Amore's Pizza in Malibu.

The protest outside of D'Amore's at 22601 Pacific Coast Highway is set for 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19.

Last week, some 300 protesters rallied outside of Point Pizza at the Point Dume Village on Heathercliff Road and Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu. Point Pizza, which is owned by Hye Song Oh, is scheduled to close in December when its lease expires.

Hye Song Oh has said she wants to stay at the location. Marquis has said he wanted to bring in a new local operator as part of an effort to bring healthier options to the center.

The Point Pizza ownership has said they offered healthier options over the years.

Some protesters have asked that D'Amore's and the Point Village Owner Zan Marquis tear up the lease and keep Point Pizza in business.

Earlier this week, the D'Amore's Team, which is out of town in Boston for a funeral, released a statement explaining they had no intention to go behind Hye Song Oh's back when it agreed to open a new location in Point Pizza's space.

"We thankfully embrace the many people who have expressed their excitement at seeing us move into the center and will continue to make the best food we know how," the statement read.

Organizers of the protest asked participants to remain peaceful and park on the roof above PC Greens.

yeah, it will be interesting to see what happens. he can look into all of our eyes and see how many of us are regular customers, and witness the amount of us who will no longer support his future businesses at any location. its just a goodbye D'Amore's party.

This is asking D'Amores to allow Point Pizza, Hye Song, to keep their lease. It takes two to sign a lease, and it will take both of them to end it. Zan can remove the eviction, if D'Amores will leave the lease where it should be, with the woman who built this local business for 24 years and desperately wants to keep it. I think perhaps people who don't live on the West side of Malibu, completely underestimate the passion and commitment that residents here have for these people who have served us for decades. That will not end. Memories are never erased. People care deeply about Hye Song and they care about fairness. We've got great people in Malibu!

Zan should be the one protested. Don't get harassment charges people. I want Point Pizza to stay too. I also want a lot if things that just are not going to happen. If you don't like D`amores don't go there. Bothering them only makes things worse.
