"At happy hour, the price of our classic hot dog is $1.00," said Aaron Davitian working behind the counter inside the small wooden stand at one of the busiest intersections in Sherman Oaks.

The soft economy and the need to increase sales is also generating some other discount-dog-deals.

"Every Tuesday and Sunday, you can get almost any hot dog in the place for $2.50," added Davitian, the manager who is also a struggling writer.

On every other day, prices range from $6.50 for the Brooklyn Pastrami dog, to $6.00 for the Spicy Italian down to $3.00 for the Traditional Dodger dog.

Why the discounts on Tuesdays and Sundays?

"Tuesday we get lots of people who work in offices on Ventura Boulevard, so we're lowering the price to $2.50 hoping to attract more of them. Sunday we get families coming here with kids who love the hot dogs, so we'll give them special discounts on Sunday," said Davitian.

The Tuesday and Sunday discounts don't apply to the Kobe Dog, which is an all beef dog made from New Zealand raised Kobe Cattle, and the Charlie Sheen-Tiger-blood-dog which was publicized around the country for a couple of days when Sheen was making headlines two months ago.

" Also, no discount on the twinkie-dog " added Davitian.

"What's that?" asked Chris,a customer.

"That's two deep-fried twinkies with a hot dog in between them and cheese-whiz on top."

Thanks anyway.

For people who get a craving for a hot dog late in the evening, the Infield is open till midnight, Sunday through Thursday. On weekends they are serving hot dogs until 3:00a.m.

But happy hour is the dinner hour.

"You get a fresh frank that pops when you bite into it for just $1.00," said Davitian smiling as he was dealing a dog over the counter to a customer.
