Lacking the patience to sit in traffic going up to the Griffith Observatory (its website warned of "heavy traffic and parking congestion"), I decided to make a device with which to watch the solar eclipse, which was due to start at 5:24 p.m. PDT on Sunday.

I made a solar eclipse viewer by following these instructions. Remember, never look directly at the sun.
