Crash on 405 in Sherman Oaks Clogs Traffic

Authorities said all northbound lanes on the freeway were shut down for 45 minutes.

By City News Service

Traffic in Sepulveda Pass backed up eight miles because several cars crashed on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Sherman Oaks Saturday.

One person was injured in the crash, on the 405 north approaching the Ventura (101) Freeway interchange, Los Angeles firefighters reported. One vehicle overturned in the multi-car collision, the CHP reported.

All northbound lanes were closed for about 45 minutes, and traffic was reportedly stopped as far back as Sunset Boulevard. Compounding the congestion was the closure of adjacent Sepulveda Boulevard for freeway-widening construction, just south of Sunset.
