Why Go: What better way to spend time with the kids than digging for ancient treasures? Activities include sorting through hidden artifacts, weighing and examining the findings, and sculpting your very own artifact that can be taken home. 

Price: Included with museum admission; no reservations required. Weather permitting only.  

 

Family Art Stops

Where/When: The Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Dr., Los Angeles; 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: This event is a great way to spend quality time with family, and you will have the opportunity to view artwork up close, while learning important information at the same time. 

Pricing: Free. Sign-up required a half-hour in advance. For more information, call 310-440-7300. Geared for families with children ages 5 and older.

 

Comedy Improv For Kids By Kids!

Where/When: , 13442 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks; 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: See local children (ages 5-14) perform hilarious comedic skits. If your child is interested in learning more about the world of comedy, this is a great place to begin.

Where/When: Vibrato, 2930 Beverly Glen Circle, Bel Air; 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Why Go: Called the new, female Michael Bublé, Anna Mjoll has performed with Julio Iglesias, Christopher Guest and Michael MacDonald. Close out your weekend with some live entertainment, tucked away in the Mulholland hills.
