Firehouse Final Performances
Laura Coker in association with the Whitefire Theatre presents the world premiere of FIREHOUSE by Pedro Antonio Garcia, directed by Bryan Rasmussen, consulting producer Robert 'Bobby' Moresco (co-writer CRASH). Fridays only, 8pm, February 4 through April 29, 2011, at the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks.
FIREHOUSE is a re-examination of the Amadou Diallo issue set inside a South Bronx firehouse. A probationary, rookie fireman responds to a fire rescuing a veteran firefighter, in lieu of a 12 year-old girl, who dies as a result. The community is outraged; mass demonstrations ensue. The rookie fireman, a former cop who had previously been tried and acquitted – along with three other cops - for the murder of an unarmed Puerto Rican, claims to have not seen the young girl.
Is the rookie fireman telling the truth, or is this a case of a cover-up involving race?
