What's Happening This Weekend in Sherman Oaks

The holiday weekend has arrived, so be sure to have events planned if your family is coming to town. Live music and entertainment, food trucks, an egg hunt, brunch, mini golf…lots of fun family happenings that are not to be missed this weekend.

Thursday:

Kids Yoga

Where/When: , 13557 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks; 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: This class for children ages 3 – 6 years old focuses on maintaining flexibility, conscious breathing, and relaxation.  During the class the children also enjoy playful poses and storytelling.

Late Night with The Fox and The Fuchs

Where/When: Vitello’s, 4349 Tujunga Ave., Studio City; 10 p.m. to midnight

Why Go: Known for their food and live entertainment, Vitello’s is always a busy establishment.  Tonight you can start you weekend by listening to a live Jazz mash-up featuring Marianna Fox and James Fuchs.

Friday:

Baby Storytime

Where/When: North Hollywood Library, 5211 Tujunga Ave., North Hollywood; 10 a.m.

Why Go: Finding free events to go with a baby or toddler can be difficult, but every Friday the North Hollywood Library has storytime where you and your child can enjoy spending time together as well as stories, songs, and more. 

Pricing: Free.

 

NoHo Dine-Out Friday Nights

Where/When: 11458 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood; 5:30 – 9 p.m.

Why Go: After work head on over to North Hollywood and enjoy an evening full of food, entertainment, and perhaps even a little shopping.  Tonight some of the food trucks appearing will be Corn Heaven, Jarritos Refrescos Truck, B&R Burgers and Curbside Craving.  Live music will be provided by the band Northern Strangers, and the specialty vendors include 7 Thirty Jewels & Hair Accessories and Rok by Rocha.

Pricing: Free.

 

Music Spotlight Series Featuring Megan Arial

Where/When: Universal CityWalk, 5 Towers, 100 Universal Plaza, Universal City; 7 – 10 p.m.

Why Go: If you don’t have plans, you can head over to CityWalk where Megan Arial will be performing. She will perform her own songs as well as cover songs by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Beforehand there will be a DJ spinning Top 40 hits and giving out prizes.

Dancing Under The Stars

Where/When: , 15301 Ventura Blvd.; 8:45 p.m.

Why Go: Everyone needs to shake off their stress from time to time and just have a great evening out, and tonight you can enjoy free dance lessons, dance demonstrations, and even a dance party.  The Galleria has partnered with Arthur Murray Sherman Oaks to bring life to this special event and from now on, every first Friday of the month you can enjoy dancing at the Galleria.

Masta & The Edge of Soul

Where/When: , 14015 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks; 10 p.m.

Why Go: Live music always gets the weekend started right, especially since it’s a big holiday weekend, and what better way to liven up your evening than with some live R&B.

Late Night

Where/When: Vitello’s, 4349 Tujunga Ave., Studio City; 10 p.m. to midnight

Why Go: Another late night at Vitello’s, you can always stop by and listen to live entertainment. Tonight’s musical talent will include Champian Fulton (vocals), Charles Ruggiero (drums), and Mike Gurrola (bass).

Saturday:

Zumba

Where/When: , 14252 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks; 10:30 – 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Have a fun time exercising in this Latin-inspired workout. Summer is quickly approaching so bring some friends along and move your body to international music.

Easter Egg Hunt

Where/When: Los Encinos State Historic Park, 16756 Moorpark St., Encino; 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: It’s an egg-citing event for children and not only will there be an egg hunt but there will also be traditional games, old-time music, and tours of the historic adobe.

Jeannie Brandes’ Birthday Concert & CD Release

Where/When: Vitello’s, 4349 Tujunga Ave., Studio City; 7 p.m.

Why Go: Enjoy an evening full of live entertainment and celebrate the release of Jeannie Brandes’ new album, Kisses You Awake. Accompanying the world class singer will be Tom Zink on the piano, Tim Emmons on the bass, Jim Honeyman on the sax, and Shelly Markham as a special guest.

True School All Stars

Why Go: Café Cordiale is close, convenient, and offers so much variety in music and tonight is another music-filled evening. Performing R&B Funk tonight is the group True School All Stars featuring Tony Boyd.

Sunday: 

Miniature Golf

Where/When: , 4989 Sepulveda Blvd.; 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Why Go: Have a fun family-filled day with your loved ones and go get your mini-golf on today. There’s an arcade as well and even some batting cages, so everyone can enjoy themselves and spend quality time with family on this Easter Sunday.

Café Sierra Champagne Brunch

Where/When: Café Sierra at Hilton, 555 Universal Hollywood Drive, Universal City; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go: If you’re looking for a fine dining experience but still want your family to have some Easter fun today, this brunch will not only have great food but also there will be an egg hunt, egg baskets, and a Marionette show for the kids.

Family Art Stops

Where/When: The Getty Center, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles; 2:30 p.m.

Why Go: Examine art up close and personal today as a gallery teacher guides you to a family-friendly work of art. You can participate in fun activities such as puzzles and drawing as well. 

Pricing: Free. Sign up at the Museum Information Desk is required at 2pm. Children ages 5 and up.
