Large Crowd Already Signed Up for Run/Walk Next Week

Memorial Event For Conor Lynch scheduled for Sunday October 16 at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.

More than 600 people have already signed up to participate in the 5-kilometer run/walk "In Honor of Conor" at 8:30 a.m. Sunday October 16 at Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Park.

This inaugural event was created by Jeri Dye Lynch as a tribute to her son Conor Lynch, 16, who was killed last October during a hit-and-run accident during cross country practice with the Notre Dame High School team.

"It's amazing that so many people have signed up," said Dye Lynch.

The event is also intended to raise awareness and promote the safety of pedestrians, runners, cyclists and young drivers.

" Next year, we're going to add another safety topic," said Dye Lynch. " We'd like to create awareness of teen driver safety and we're thinking of having a special faire that focuses on that issue," she added.
