Operation Take Me Home Pet Fair and Wellness Event

Walgreens Sherman Oaks kicks off fall pet adoptions by sponsoring the Operation Take Me Home Pet Fair and Wellness Event on Sunday, October 16, 2011.  Operation Blankets of Love and Friends of Animal Rescues join forces with community businesses and other animal charities to get homeless animals into wonderful loving homes.  Author Laura Marlowe will be on hand to autograph copies of her wonderful, compassionate book, "Tommy the Throwaway Dog."  Based on actual events, this story is sure to capture the hearts of its readers and serve to educate and inspire our children to be kind to our animal friends.
Operation Blankets of Love will be on site to take in much needed blankets, bedding, towels and pet supplies to support the homeless pets in public and private shelters throughout Southern California.   Local animal rescue organizations and independent rescuers will be bringing wonderful homeless pets for adoption.
Visitors can expect to meet a wide variety of dogs and cats, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes and all things in between.   Spend time reviewing new pet wellness ideas, products and samples.  There will also be informal presentations of safety tips for children and dogs and useful information on disaster preparedness for your pet.
Learn about other local pet related businesses.  Other attractions include "Rescue Rocks the Runway (rescue dogs take over high fashion), "Barks for Books" fundraiser for rescue dogs featuring new and used books at discount prices, and "Rover Wash" featuring the state of the art portable Hydro-Bath with bathing supplies from Haute Dog.  Representative Ken Metz from California Council of the Blind will be on hand to discuss this active and innovative program and raise awareness for this great cause.
Those unable to take home a new family member are welcome to stop by to pet a pup and cuddle a kitty and support animal rescue by donating to the pet food drive or participating in our fabulous raffle.  Drawings will be held throughout the event.
