Local Author Takes Lead in LA Autism Walk

Autism author Monica Holloway led Team Frostig in Saturday's LA Autism Walk.

Monica Holloway, an autism author and resident of Sherman Oaks, participated in the 10th Anniversary Los Angeles Autism Walk on Saturday, leading 'Team Frostig' from The Frostig Center, which helps children that have learning disabilities. 

The event was held at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena and Team Frostig raised $5,795 for autism research. Overall, the event raised $1,612,379.

“Los Angeles Walk Now for Autism Speaks is an incredible event that unites the local autism communities together,” Holloway said.

Holloway is the author of Cowboy & Wills, a Mother's Choice Award's Gold recipient, and author of the memoir Driving With Dead People.

The Frostig Center includes on-site academic instruction for students ranging from grades 1-12 and ongoing training for over 1,000 professionals each year. Frostig School, a part of The Frostig Center, aims to enhance the opportunities of children with learning disabilities and related learning problems, including high functioning autism, non-verbal learning disabilities, ADHD, and Aspergers.

“It was a true honor to walk as part of Team Frostig this year, along side of the leaders, educators, and caregivers that provide enriching, quality services to my son on the autism spectrum," Holloway said.
