Holloway to Facilitate Autism Workshop at Frostig Center

Autism author Monica Holloway will help conduct a workshop aimed at addressing the challenge of literacy for children with special needs.

Sherman Oaks resident and autism author Monica Holloway will offer a presentation on autism and act as a workshop facilitator during the 'Serving Children with Autism: Literature, Libraries and Learning' workshop on Saturday.

The event is presented by Children's Literature Council of Southern California and will be held at Frostig Center, located at 971 North Altadena Drive in Pasadena from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Holloway is the author of Cowboy & Wills, which shares the story of the golden retriever puppy that changed the life of her son with autism. She will offer a book signing and assist in facilitating the workshop, in addition to her speaking presentation on her experiences with autism and her memoir. A strong advocate for literacy, Holloway is a National Center for Family Literacy Advisory Board Member.

  • Dr. Ricki Robinson- Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, USC Keck School of Medicine; Co-Director, La Canada Descanso Medical Center for Development and Learning; and author of Autism Solutions: How To Create a Healthy and Meaningful Life For Your Child.
  • Barbara Clipper - Youth Services Librarian, The Ferguson Library in Stamford, CT; creator of the library's Special Needs Center.
